Silicone Manufacturers' Commitment

Silicone manufacturers work cooperatively with U.S. and Canadian federal, state and provincial regulatory agencies to assess data and ensure that silicones continue to be safe for human health and the environment. Silicone manufacturers have undertaken the largest voluntary health and safety program ever conducted on siloxanes to ensure that the materials are safe for their intended uses, as well as educate our consumers of the many benefits associated with them. As manufacturers, it is our commitment to make available basic environmental, health, and safety data on silicon-based materials produced in high volumes to all national governments through the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development. Most recently, we have also committed to provide Health Canada and Environment Canada with safety data on siloxanes.

Silicone manufacturers are dedicated to the safety of silicones and conduct research to increase our understanding. We communicate relevant research and safety information to regulatory agencies, employees and customers. We utilize an independent panel of expert scientists for the review of study methods and results, and submit our research to peer-reviewed publications. We submit our final research reports to regulatory agencies as appropriate.
